The released footage captures the moment when, with the help of a flashlight, the couple inspects the back interior of the purchased dresser. Between the two wooden structural components, they noticed folded money.
“That’s good money,” the man said.
Initially, the wife assumed there was about $20, and the husband agreed. However, as they began to unfold the stash, a large hundred-dollar bill was found inside. This greatly surprised and amused the couple, and the husband immediately suggested there might be around $500 in total.
In total, the package contained ten $50 bills and one $100 bill, summing up to $600.
“$600, baby! They’re all old, man. I’ve never seen hundreds and fifties folded like that,” the American commented emotionally, and his wife added, “This is crazy.”
After this, the couple decided to check the other compartments of the purchased furniture. The husband suggested searching more thoroughly, assuming the previous owner might have intentionally hidden something else there. The wife agreed that it was a deliberate hiding spot.
Later, in another part of the dresser, the man found a gold coin in a protective plastic case with a cartoon dragon image on one side and unknown symbols on the other.
“It’s a fake, but cool. Something like a Chinese good luck coin, probably. It’s cute, whoever it belongs to,” he concluded.
Nothing else was found in the dresser. On social media, the couple wrote that they were incredibly lucky, as this was their first time discovering such a significant find. Later, the wife added that most of the bills were of old design – from the 1960s, and one from 1950.
Viewers in the comments advised taking the money to an appraiser, as old banknotes can be worth more than their face value. Users also noted that in those years, $600 was a huge sum – equivalent to about $6000 today.
Recall that nearly 3,000 silver coins from the Viking era were found on a Norwegian farm. This hoard became the most extensive for the country, and the coins within it come from four different states.
